JSR Micro Group Completes Construction of Belgian Facility

LEUVEN, BELGIUM
November 20, 2002

New Plant to Bolster Global Network in Asia, North America and Europe

LEUVEN, BELGIUM, November 20, 2002 -- JSR Micro NV, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tokyo-based JSR Corporation, announced today that construction of its newest semiconductor materials manufacturing facility in Leuven, Belgium, has been completed. The facility represents an investment of 2.5 billion yen — approximately 21 million US dollars — and is scheduled to begin production by the end of this year.

The new facility will produce advanced KrF photosensitive resists using a state-of-the-art manufacturing process and have an initial capacity of 200,000 liters per year — approximately 50,000 gallons per year. In addition to KrF photoresist production, the company produces photoresist developers and has allocated space for future production of more advanced semiconductor materials

“JSR products enjoy an excellent reputation among leading semiconductor manufacturers, resulting in steadily increasing sales of our KrF photoresists,” said JSR Micro NV President, Seiichi Hasegawa. “The completion of this facility will expand our capacity to meet increasing demands of European customers and strengthen our global business development capability.”

The Belgian plant will be the fourth installation in the JSR group devoted to the promotion of global business development of semiconductor materials. Other JSR facilities include operations in Yokkaichi, Japan, JSR Micro, Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA, USA and JSR Micro Kyushu in Saga, Japan.

The existing plant in Belgium is scheduled to close by the end of 2004.
