Tokyo – July 20, 2007 – JSR Corporation has announced that Bruno Roland takes the position of president of JSR Micro NV, a 100 percent subsidiary located in Belgium, effective June 15, 2007.  The company expects to accelerate its globalization by establishing a local management team.  This follows a precedent set by the company’s US operations, JSR Micro, Inc., that is successfully headed by Eric Johnson since 2005.

JSR Micro NV located in Leuven, Belgium, operates manufacturing of advanced lithography materials and supports European semiconductor manufacturers. The local presence is crucial in order to understand specific customer needs and to offer the required technical support.
Also, European semiconductor manufacturers have alliances with Asian partners, resulting in frequent technology and materials transfers to Asia.  In this context JSR Micro NV plays a very important role in the future growth of JSR Corporation.
Recently, JSR Micro NV has expanded its charter with the development of business in new areas for future growth, by setting up a new division, focusing on specific fast growing industries in Europe, such as telecom, automotive, and consumer electronics.

In the late eighties Bruno Roland has been involved in R&D work in the field of microelectronics at UCB and IMEC, more specific on dry developable resist systems. This work has helped JSR to penetrate the semiconductor market. In 1990, he transferred to UCB-JSR Electronics, which was a joint venture of JSR and UCB, and he became general manager in 2000 after JSR fully acquired this company and changed the name to JSR Micro NV. JSR expects Bruno Roland to be a proactive leader for technology innovation in order to cope with a continuously changing market..
